This has got to be one of the coolest Star Wars toys ever. Remember the opportunity scene from Revenge of the Sith, the one with the epic space battle with weighty starships blasting at each other while small fighters buzzed between them? The Lego Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring is based on the fighters flown by the Jedi in that opportunity scene, and this model looks like it just flew right out of the movie screen - the concentration to information in this Lego model is astonishing. Designed for children aged 9-12 years of age, this set will keep the kids busy for hours assembling and then playing with a model space ship worthy of a Jedi pilot.
And not just any Jedi pilot; the set comes with one Obi-Wan Kenobi and one Kit Fisto minifigure. The kids can put either one of these figures inside the opportunity cockpit of the Jedi Starfighter. Unfortunately, only the Kit Fisto shape comes with a light saber, so there will be no light saber fights between the two Jedi.

The model itself is composed of two dissimilar components - the Jedi Starfighter and its Hyperdrive Ring. With over 500 pieces in the box this is a involved set unblemished with thoughprovoking parts and limited details. The blue and white Starfighter itself has retractable landing gear and moveable wings along with an opportunity cockpit. The Hyperdrive Ring has opportunity connector plates and launching missiles. The Starfighter is designed to fit into the middle of the Hyperdrice Ring and lock into it, just like in the movies. This complexity is guaranteed to keep the older kids' concentration for a long time - assembly of the full model may take a few hours - while at the same time improving creativity in a very fun way.
This large (2.8 x 11.3 x 19 inches) Lego model is not as cheap as other Lego models available. However, the model's complexity and concentration to detail, not to mention its endurance and educational value, makes getting this Lego set well worth the cost. Overall, the Lego Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring gets a 9 out of 10.
